When traveling by plane, no matter how long the flight is, you would want to be entertained. You can listen to or view the programming on the back of the seat, if available, or on your device. In either case, you will need to connect your earphones to listen to the audio.

To connect to the inflight entertainment systems, you have to plug your headphones into the 35mm jack hole in the armrest. To do so, the earphones must be the old-school type with a wire. That could be quite inconvenient. Especially if you are sitting on the aisle seat with others and have to get up from time to time. How many people have had the unpleasant feeling of being yanked by your ears when you forget to disconnect? I definitely have.

Also, if you do not have your own wired earphones, the earphones provided by the airlines are terrible and uncomfortable.

That is why a Bluetooth transmitter device is the newest valuable travel gadget. This compact audio device plugs into the seatback entertainment center and connects to your headphones via Bluetooth. No more sore ears or crackling audio.

Anker Soundsync Bluetooth Receiver:
» Bluetooth 5.0 connection
» Stream music to non-Bluetooth headphones and speakers.
» Hands-Free Calls: Plug into your car and answer calls while you drive.
» 12-Hour Battery Life
» Dual-Pairing: Connect two Bluetooth devices at once

Quite a few people/bloggers are talking about the AirFly transmitter. I have to admit, they have a great marketing team.
While it does look nice and likely does the transmitting, I find it quite overpriced at almost $60. Most of those dollars you are paying for is the marketing, not the technology

There are quite a few of these Bluetooth adapter on the market. Below are the ones we have used or have reviewed.

The Bluetooth transmitter is small. It is the size of a rubber band eraser or one and a half quarters. It can easily fit in with your earphones and other small things you pack for in-flight access.

This wireless audio sending device allows you to transmit audio from in-flight entertainment, gym equipment, gaming devices, TV, or any device using a 3.5 audio jack. Use your AirPods, earbuds, or wireless headphones anywhere with no more cords in the way. Now, you don't have to sacrifice audio quality and your comfort during the flight.

We have one that is similar to this one. Paid around 20 dollars for it. So far, I have used it to listen to music and videos on a flight, on an old laptop that does not have Bluetooth, and on the Casio keyboard that also has no wireless connection of any kind.

Great uses for this gadget beyond travel:

» Older laptops that don't have Bluetooth connection

» Musical devices that did not come with Bluetooth. Such as our Casio electric piano, which has a large headphone jack but no wireless connectivity of any sort. I got an adapter to fit in a 35mm jack from the Bluetooth transmitter, and now we can use any of our earphones, either Airpods or the Soundcore earbuds, to play and listen to music.

» Radios that could use the upgrade to a Bluetooth connection

» TVs that can now be listened to on your personal headphones
